Terms of Service

Last updated: July 28, 2026

1. Acceptance

By using Darkest Hour ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Darkest Hour provides a free dark-sky map, cloud/moon/seeing forecasts, Bortle-scale context, and an optional paid Pro planning layer that includes saved-location alerts, best-night scanning, and clear-window finder tools.

All sky-condition decisions are model-generated estimates for planning purposes. They are not safety-critical forecasts. Always check local weather before travel and never rely solely on a single forecast source.

3. Pro Subscriptions

Pro is offered as a monthly or annual subscription billed through Stripe. Prices are displayed at checkout and confirmed before payment. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled. You may cancel at any time — access continues through the end of the current billing period.

4. Refund Policy

Pro subscriptions are refundable within 14 days of the initial payment or renewal. Refund requests after 14 days are reviewed case-by-case. To request a refund, contact support@darkest-hour.com with your account email and the date of the charge.

5. Intellectual Property

The Darkest Hour name, logo, night-sky decision engine, and all original content (articles, guides, glossary entries, Bortle calculator) are the property of Darkest Hour. Forecast data is sourced from MET Norway and NOAA SWPC under their respective licenses.

6. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is." Darkest Hour is not liable for decisions made based on forecast data, including travel plans, equipment damage, or missed observing windows. Sky conditions change; use multiple sources and your own judgment.

7. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or engage in fraudulent activity.
